DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES
School begins at 8:30 and ends at 3:12. We will start learning right at 8:30. This means that students should be at school and in their classrooms by 8:30 to avoid interruptions and distractions. The first bell rings at 8:25.
In the morning, at recess and after school, students will use the grade 2 hallway doors leading out to the school yard.
Visiting the school? If you are visiting the school to volunteer or for a meeting, please enter through the front door and visit the office to sign in. You will receive a visitor tag to allow all members of our school community to recognize you as a guest in our building.
Picking up your child? If you pick up your child after school, please meet him or her at the main door or another designated meeting place. If you need to pick up your child during the day, please let the office staff know. Your child will be called down to meet you in the main entryway.
Change in your after-school routine? If your child will be getting home in a different way than normal, please let me know by sending an email. This will help us avoid any confusion and is particularly important for bus students as they will be sent home on the bus unless the school has been notified of a change. Additionally, students will not be allowed to leave with another family unless the school has been notified of the arrangement.
***Please send a change of clothes (pants, shirt, socks and underwear) in a plastic bag labelled with your child’s name on it. The change of clothes will stay in your child’s locker. *****
Routines, Routines, Routines...
Grade 2 routines are very important! We will be implementing them starting the first day of school. As they are so important, here are some routines that you, as a parent, will want to be aware of:

Routines, Routines, Routines...
Grade 2 routines are very important! We will be implementing them starting the first day of school. As they are so important, here are some routines that you, as a parent, will want to be aware of:
- I would like to send all correspondence, homework, agenda and completed work the communication bag that was senthome with your child today (la pochette). Please take a look in the pochette bag as well as the agenda every day for important correspondence that will be sent home. Please always send the pochette and the agenda to school every day.
- Every Monday, I will add a 5 Grade 2 high frequency words to review on the classroom website as well as in the homework duotang. These words will be reviewed every day at school and it would be a good idea to review these words at home as well. The high frequency words will not be tested as I found that Dictée tests can create quite a bit of anxiety for some students and many times students couldn’t always recall how to correctly spell these high frequency words in their writing. I believe simply reviewing words learned on a daily basis is a more effective way of remembering these important words.
- Every Monday, we will add a new poem, song or text to the homework duotang. Please read this text with your child. We will also review this text at school on a daily basis.
- We will have a library period once a week. When a period is scheduled for our class, I will let you know which day of the week to return books. Every week, students will be allowed to take two books from the library. One in French and one in English.
- Students are expected to read at home every night for at least 10 minutes in French. Please sit down and read with your child. 2L will also have a home reading program. More information will be given on this in the upcoming weeks.
